چکیده
A 65-year old man presented with a six-month history of loss of appetite. Clinical examination was unremarkable. Initial endoscopy was reported to be normal. Ultrasound scan of the abdomen showed a dilated common bile duct with no gall bladder calculi. Serum alkaline phosphatase was raised (630.2 U/L). Duodenoscopy with a side-viewing scope (TJF-160R Olympus) revealed a periampullary growth hanging in to the duodenal lumen occluding the ampulla (Figure 1). Endoscopic snare polypectomy was performed. Free drainage of bile was observed after the polypectomy (Figure 2). Histology showed a villous adenoma with moderate dysplasia. Excision margins were clear. Effectiveness of Endoscopic Treatment for Gastrointestinal Neuroendocrine Tumors
Several recent studies have explored efficacy and safety of different endoscopic treatments for gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumors (GI-NETs). However, there is no definitive consensus regarding the best endoscopic approach for GI-NETs treatment. Therefore, the present study was conducted to investigate the application of various endoscopic techniques for the treatment of GI-NETs according t...
متن کاملCold snare polypectomy: does snare type influence outcomes?
BACKGROUND AND AIM Cold snare techniques are widely used for the removal of small and diminutive polyps. The influence of snare type on the effectiveness of cold snare polypectomy is unknown. METHODS Cold snare polypectomy of 3-7-mm polyps was undertaken using either a thin wire mini-snare (0.30 mm) or a thick wire mini-snare (0.47 mm). Primary outcome was endoscopic completeness of excision....

rare benign esophageal tumor, and is usually asymptomatic [1]. More and more patients with esophageal heman− gioma are being treated endoscopically [2 ±3] by combined techniques in order to prevent massive bleeding, although the advantages are still controversial. A 68−year−old Chinese male, complaining of intermittent pharyngeal obstruction, was found to have a round, smooth pro− truding lesio...
متن کاملThread-Traction with a Sheath of Polypectomy Snare Facilitates Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection of Early Gastric Cancers
Although the thread-traction (TT) method has been found useful during endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for early gastric cancers, the movement of the thread interferes with the movement of the endoscope, and the lesion can only be pulled to the mouth side. We have developed the novel TT method using a sheath of polypectomy snare (TTSPS). The TTSPS method enables free and independent movem...
متن کاملEndoscopic retrieval of gastric trichobezoar after fragmentation with electrocautery using polypectomy snare and argon plasma coagulation in a pediatric patient
Trichobezoars are rare, composed of hair and more common in female pediatric patients with psychiatric disorders. Open surgical extraction is the most common removal method. Only two endoscopic removals after fragmentation have been reported in the English literature. We report herein a third case of a trichobezoar that was successfully retrieved after endoscopic fragmentation with snare polype...
